Standing committeeYPAA
Young People in A.A.
A.A. works at any age — and young people do service too.
What this committee does
The Young People in A.A. (YPAA) Standing Committee connects the YPAA committees within Area 09 with each other and with the Conference structure through the Area Service Committee. It teaches people about YPAA and general-service opportunities, brings YPAA into the general-service ‘scene’ of the Area, and shows the young alcoholic that A.A. works at any age.

Its work in Area 09
- Teach the history of YPAA and explain what YPAA committees are and how they work.
- Spread knowledge of YPAA-related literature (“Young People in A.A.”, “Too Young?”, “Young and Sober in A.A.”).
- Hold Q&A sessions, roundtables and workshops on common misconceptions, problems in YPAA committees and how to help a committee thrive.
- Encourage young people to take part in Area general service through outreach, workshops and a monthly committee meeting.
- Connect the Area with ACYPAA, ICYPAA and local YPAA committees and events (for example, ACYPAA LIV in Ontario, April 15–18, 2027).
