Spreadsheet files
Districts, committees, trusted servants, offices, links and all of the site's wording are simple spreadsheet (CSV) files in the site's GitHub repository, with English and Spanish side by side.
Tradition Eleven
How this website protects members' anonymity, what it publishes and what it never will, how to report a problem, and how it is kept up to date.
Our guide
A public website is media too. Following A.A.'s guidance on anonymity online, this site keeps members' anonymity exactly as we would in print or on the air.
Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.
Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.
Our rules
First names and last initials
Trusted servants appear as, for example, “Josh O.” — never with a last name.
Service e-mail addresses
Role-based addresses such as registrar@msca09aa.org or d05dcmc@msca09aa.org reach whoever holds the job today.
Public phone lines
Only the public numbers of central offices, intergroups and hotlines.
Meeting places
The addresses of buildings where service meetings and events are held, and the Area's P.O. Box.
Reviewed documents
Minutes, motions, reports and flyers, checked for anonymity before they are linked.
Last names
No full names of A.A. members — on any page, in any data file or in any document.
Personal e-mail addresses
Only role-based service addresses — never a member's own e-mail.
Personal phone numbers
No mobile or home numbers of members.
Faces
No photographs in which an A.A. member can be recognized.
Sobriety dates and home addresses
Nothing that ties a member's sobriety or home to their identity.
Report a problem
A last name, a personal e-mail or phone number, a photo, a wrong time or a broken link — tell us. Include the page address and what you saw, and it will be fixed as soon as possible.

Sending material
Districts, committees and officers send material for the site to the webmaster. These are the Area's guidelines:
Check it first
Double-check for errors before sending — especially dates and times.
Check for anonymity breaks
No full names, no personal or cell phone numbers and no personal e-mail addresses.
Send the words, not just a flyer
Send Word or PDF files — and paste the flyer's text into your e-mail, so it can go on the page where everyone can read and search it.
English and Spanish
Please send both versions. If you can't, the Area will arrange a translation, which may delay publication.
Edits
Material with anonymity breaks or serious errors may be edited, or not published.
Behind the scenes
There is no database to break and nothing to install. Everything that changes lives in three places the Area already uses, and the site rebuilds itself from them.
Districts, committees, trusted servants, offices, links and all of the site's wording are simple spreadsheet (CSV) files in the site's GitHub repository, with English and Spanish side by side.
Every meeting and event comes from the Area calendar. The site rebuilds every three hours, so calendar changes appear without anyone touching the website.
Minutes, reports, flyers and other documents are kept in the Area's Google Drive, and the site links to them.
Open the file
On github.com, open the data folder and the file you need — for example central-offices.csv — and click the pencil to edit.
Change the text
Edit only the text between the commas and keep the first row of column names as it is. English and Spanish sit side by side.
Save the change
Write a short note about what you changed and click “Commit changes”.
Check the page
The site rebuilds automatically; a few minutes later the change is live.
Privacy
No accounts
There is nothing to sign up for and no form that asks for personal information.
No tracking or advertising
The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Search on your device
Site search runs inside your browser; what you type is not sent to any outside service.
Maps and flyer images
Map tiles load from OpenStreetMap only when a map is shown, and flyer images are served by Google Drive.
