The archive

1,785 documents from 1999 to 2023, rescued from the Area's two earlier websites and kept in one place so the record is not lost when an old site is switched off. Documents from 2024 on are in the library as current documents.

Where it came from

Two websites and a shared Drive

Over the years the Area published its minutes, newsletters and reports on two websites. Everything they held was copied into the Area's Google Drive and indexed, so every file can still be found here.

  1. Documents dated 1999–2022

    area09.org

The Area's first website. 1,055 documents come from it: Area and Assembly minutes, newsletters in English and Spanish, Conference material, district records, flyers, workbooks and guidelines.

  2. Documents dated 2000–2023

    msca09aa.org

The Area's WordPress website, which this site replaces. 729 archived documents come from it, including minutes, the Delegate's sharing sessions and GSO round-ups; some older ones were scanned and uploaded to it later.

  3. Today

    The Area's Google Drive

Every file lives in the Area's shared Google Drive and opens in the Drive viewer. New documents added to the Drive appear in this library on their own at the next update.

Why some documents are not shown

Our Eleventh Tradition asks us to protect the anonymity of A.A. members. Many older documents were written for members only and list full names, personal phone numbers, e-mail or home addresses, or sobriety dates.

1,157 documents are held back until the Area has reviewed them. They stay safely in the Area's files and can be published once the personal details have been removed.

On this website we show members by first name and last initial only, with service e-mail addresses — never personal ones.

Archives committee The Area's Archives committee collects and preserves our history. Visit its page to learn more or to get involved.
