Standing committee
Technology
The website, online meetings and the tools that let service happen.
What this committee does
The Technology Committee uses electronic media — the Area website, online-meeting tools and e-mail — to inform members and others about the activities, history and structure of Area 09. It carries the Area’s group conscience about the internet and digital media, protects anonymity online, and makes hybrid Area meetings possible.

Its work in Area 09
- Maintain msca09aa.org through the Web Servant, posting only approved, anonymity-safe material in English and Spanish, viewable on as many devices as possible.
- Host and support hybrid Area meetings, committee Zoom rooms and telecommunication sessions for districts and committees.
- Check electronic and printed material for anonymity breaks: no full names, photos of members, or personal e-mail addresses.
- Hold weekly office hours (Fridays 11 AM) to help committees and districts get their information and events on the website and calendar.
- Send a yearly archive copy of the website to the Archives Committee.
- Link only to aa.org, aagrapevine.org and approved service sites (central offices, PRAASA) — never to commercial, religious or advocacy sites.
How to get involved
Any A.A. member can join — technical skills help but aren’t required. The committee meets every Friday, 11 AM–12 PM, on Zoom, and at every ASC and Assembly except the Election Assembly. Quorum is the voting members present.
How it is organized
Officers: Chair (two-year term), Web Servant (an independent contractor with a stipend, identified by the committee and confirmed by the Assembly each panel; may serve unlimited terms; removable for cause by two-thirds of the committee) and Secretary/Treasurer, plus an Online Meeting Coordinator. The Assembly keeps final authority over website content. Formed in 2022, taking over the Communications Committee’s former electronic-media work.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get our event or document on the website?
E-mail it to webmaster@msca09aa.org (or come to Friday office hours). Double-check dates and times, remove anonymity breaks (no full names, personal phones or personal e-mails), send Word or PDF, and include both English and Spanish if you can — otherwise translation will be arranged, which takes longer.
